Little Hearts Big Smiles is a support group for families of children with special needs. We meet monthly and have fun activities for kids and educational trainings for parents. If you are looking for a safe place where people understand what you are going through come and join us!
Playground Information
The future playground site is on Fife Avenue at the entrance to the bike trail just across the street from the Denver Williams Park Soccer Fields. The playground will be fully accessible for wheelchairs and for children with low muscle tone. We will also have family restrooms available with changing tables and wheelchair accessibility at the end of phase 3. There will be sensory panels, a weevos toddler area, a bucket swing with seat belt system, a swing sway and many other inclusive pieces. The ground surfacing will be a poured in place Porta Material. This surface will allow wheelchairs and walkers to move with ease across all areas of the playground. We have broken down the playground project into phases so that we can begin construction. Phase I will go in the ground in Mid April and we have begun the capital campaign for fundraising for Phases 2 and 3. The parking lot is currently being installed thanks to the generosity of Melvin Stone and Melvin Asphalt. Their donation kept us under budget for that portion of the project and will allow us to use funds for Phase 2.
Phase I Drawing:
Phase I includes wheelchair/walker accessible ramping to all panels and slides on the ramping structure. A roller slide for sensory input, a double slide, conical climber and other climbers along with numerous sensory and educational panels. This phase also includes swings with 3 bay areas that include 2 traditional swings, 1 toddler swing, 1 bucket swing with seatbelt system and a wheelchair swing (not pictured).
